Unable to Publish Listings Because Length of Description Has Exceeded Maximum Limit
A month ago I had problems publishing listings due to "Length of description exceeding the maximum limit." I received help which advised me to copy my Word documents into Notepad and then copy from Notepad to the eBay listing. That worked fine. Today, it happened again and the Notepad trick no longer works. In desperation I hand typed the text directly into the description section of the listing. IT STILL TELLS ME MY DESCRIPTION HAS EXCEEDED THE MAXIMUM LIMIT. I don't know what to do. I have 5 listing I am unable to complete today. I have been selling on eBay since 2018 and have never run into this issue. I cannot find any information on the eBay site which outlines the maximum length allowed for a description. It just says it needs to be very thorough which mine are but for some reason it is not letting me proceed.
I could really use some help!

Mentor2 years agoYou are allowed 80 characters/spaces in a listing title. You cannot use more than that no matter what workaround you try.

OP2 years agoI understand that to be the case for the title. My question is regarding the size of the Description Section.

Mentor2 years agoSorry, I misread (though you were very clear). There is a limit to the length of the description as well, but I don't know what that limit is - I've never run up against it.
If you reach the point where you can't enter more text, you've reached the max description length. I think you're going to need to cut some of it out.
One thing you might try is to include the most relevant information, submit the listing, then revise the listing to see if you've able to add it. (For example, your bio info, and that last part about the eBay details.)
