Unable to get refund for item I bought which seller later admitted he couldn't find.
I bought a certain baseball card from a seller. He told me he was looking for it in his collection but couldn't find it and asked that I give him some time to find it. When I followed up, I got a message that he was not going to be out of the office for a month. By the time I got in touch with him again, he didn't answer whether he would give me a refund. I didn't realize that eBay had time limits for reporting problems or requesting refunds or whatever. I tried submitted some kind of request for review more than three months after the purchase but got a notification a month later that eBay "closed this request since there's been no activity for 21 days." Does that mean the seller was free to simply ignore the complaint for 2 1 days until it went away? What recourse do I have here? I basically just use eBay to buy a $5 card every couple of months so I'm not very well versed in these processes.

Mentor4 months agoGo to your Purchase History and locate the purchased item. What is the last estimated delivery date? You have up to 30 days past that date in order to file an Item Not Received case, to get your money back. Once you file, the seller has 3 days to provide a tracking number that shows Delivered or issue a full refund. If the seller does neither, on day 4 you return to the case and click Ask ebay to step in, to force a refund. If you do nothing, ebay closes the case after 21 days of no activity.
If it is past the 30 day limit, you will need to log into Paypal and file an Item Not Received case there, if that is how you paid, as they allow up to 180 days from date of purchase to file, to get your money back.
If you paid with a credit card, file a charge back with your credit card issuer.
