Unable to Contact eBay - Problem with Fraudster Seller & Return
I posted about this before. A quick recap for anyone who did not read how this began. Basically, I saw a 100ml bottle of Valentino Born in Roma for a good price OBO. I checked seller's 225 feedback, and it seemed it was mostly all good with only a few negatives. So, I made an offer, and it was accepted. Something told me to go back and look at seller's feedback in detail. I did so and was STUNNED to find that fully 4 of 7 pages of feedback were padded eBay automated feedbacks. Of the remaining few pages, the total of negatives were relatively high. I never would have made an offer if I had realised so much of the feedbacks were padded by eBay. I immediately tried to cancel. Seller ignored the request and shipped more than 9 hours later.
The item was supposed to be in Van Nuys, CA, but then I saw seller is supposed to be in the UK. However, tracking showed the item shipped from New Jersey. Wait...it gets worse.
Upon arrival, the package came from Youngston, Ohio, and it had no name on it other than eBay Seller. I checked the address in Youngstown, but I could not find any such address. I requested a return. Seller ignored return request for days. Finally, I messaged seller and told him I was reporting him to Youngstown police. Suddenly, seller okay'ed the request.
I tried to pull up the return today to take the package to the post office, but there was no QR Code. Instead, the return wants me to (1) print a label, and (2) does not even show my name and address as the shipper. Instead it shows the shipper as....are you ready for this?

That now makes 5 locations for this seller. He is supposed to be in the UK, but the item is supposed to be in California, but it shipped from New Jersey and arrived with a sender address in Youngstown, OH that does not exist. Now, the shipping label (which is shipping GIGANTIC so I cannot use it) is sending it back to an address in Melrose Park, IL.
Can you believe this? So, I tried to chat with eBay, but I cannot chat. They want to phone me, but I am not getting a call, and I cannot get them on chat. What do I do now?
I BLAME EBAY FOR THIS MORE THAN I DO THIS FRAUDSTER SELLER. IF EBAY HAD NOT PADDED THIS SELLER'S FEEDBACK WITH WORTHLESS POSITIVES, THEN I WOULD NOT BE DEALING WITH ANY OF THIS. EBAY, I HATE YOU!!!!!!!

Mentor5 months agoBecause many buyers do not leave feedback, ebay has begun leaving automated feedback for the seller if the buyer does not leave feedback within a specified time after tracking shows Delivered, and the buyer has not filed a case. I, myself has received over 125 automated feedback.

OP5 months agoIf you are a good seller, and you receive this automated feedback, then that is great. No harm done. However, not all sellers are good ones, and for this reason I feel this is a very bad policy. As a buyer, if I chose to not leave a feedback for whatever reason, that is prerogative. eBay should not interfere with that.

Use a PDF viewer to shrink the label to reasonable size, print, then return the item -- if the label was provided through eBay.
Likely the seller has provided the address of the next unlucky buyer, but if you want your refund you will likely need to ship the item to wherever the seller is paying for it to be shipped.

eBay does not display automated feedback by default, I believe. The user must check a box to see it at all, otherwise you see only feedback from users.
Checking seller feedback closely before making a purchase is a very good idea.

OP5 months agoI do not have a PDF viewer. I am not even sure what that is.
I contacted my credit card. They told me to contact eBay fraud department at 866-961-9253. A young man with an Asian accent answered, and I could hear farm animals in the background. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with him explaining all of this. He had ZERO idea what he was doing. His communication skills were TERRIBLE. Then, after 30 minutes, he transferred me to a second agent. This one, a woman who said her name is Monique, kept me on the phone for another nearly 15 minutes. Finally, she told me she was refunding me for the item and do not worry about returning it. Now, I have to wait to see if I receive any sort of email about a refund.
In the meantime, I am trying to find the woman on the label in Melrose Park, IL. I think what you said makes 100% sense, ebrutonlab. This woman in Illinois is probably another buyer. Instead of taking the perfume back, the seller was going to have me ship to another buyer. Unbelievable!!! That has to be against eBay rules!!
Meanwhilst, I have no idea who actually shipped this to me from New Jersey. All I know is the shipper name was "eBay Seller" at 3943 Loma Vista DR. Youngstown, OH, 44511, and there is no such address that I could find.
I asked Youngstown police to contact me back. Hopefully, they will take a report on this. Without a real address, or even a name, I do not know how they will locate this fraudster.
I have put in 2 HOURS of my time on this today alone. The feedback I left for seller, disappeared. All it contained was the facts. I left it before the item arrived, so I do not know if that was how he managed to get it removed or not, but now not even my feedback is there to alert other buyers. This is disgraceful.....

OP5 months agoSo far, I have not received an email about a refund from eBay, and the order details still shows paid with no refund, so I am not even sure this agent did what she said she was going to do. How long does it take to see your refund?

A PDF viewer is a dedicated program that can open and print PDFs. Adobe Acrobat Reader is one example, but there are others. Using a PDF viewer gives more control over opening and printing a document compared to just using a browser.

I do not need it now anyway, though. eBay refunded me. If seller will send me proper sized label, I will use it to ship wherever he wants. Otherwise, I am going to bin it. Never use fake perfumes. They contain all sorts of dangerous ingredients.

Mentor5 months ago@alamo.heigh-93 You just need to use the return label provided. Sellers can have different return addresses than the ship from address.
Follow my fellow Mentor's @eburtonlab's advice and shrink the label
