Unable to cancel/void shipping labels
Summary: hunbr916 expressed concerns about being unable to cancel a previously bought shipping label on eBay after realizing a cheaper option was available. I'm pretty new to this whole thing, and I accidentally pressed the "buy shipping label" button before making sure my measurements were 100% correct. After inputting the correct data I found I could get substantially cheaper shipping. However, I'm unable to cancel the old shipping label.
Whenever I'm in the "shipping labels" section of "My Ebay" and try to press "cancel label" it brings me to a separate tab that says "This shipping label does not need to be voided because we'll charge you only once the shipping label has been used." Am I doing something wrong to cancel it? I haven't even printed the old label yet. Or does that mean that so long as I never bring it to a post office I won't be charged the money for the 2nd label?
I know this probably sounds stupid but I don't want to accidentally waste 40 dollars all because I took a risk and didn't ask around. Thanks a ton!

Mentor2 weeks agoUnused Canada Post shipping labels do not need to be cancelled if they were created after July 2, 2025, as you are only billed for items that are physically scanned in their network. For labels created before this date, you can cancel them online if you haven't provided your shipment to Canada Post yet.

OP2 weeks agoNow I feel like an idiot because I probably could have just googled that, I never thought that different postal services would have different systems for that kind of stuff. Sorry for the stupid question, and thank you for answering!

Mentor2 weeks agoYou must cancel USPS labels to get a refund whether you use them or not. Do you see both labels in the Shipping Hub?

OP2 weeks agoHi! Sorry for the late reply, but yes I can see both of them there. They all look exactly the same as any other shipping label, they all allow me to pull down the "actions" dropdown. The only difference is I can't cancel them from there for some reason. Also I don't know if this is important, but it's Canada Post, not USPS.
