Unable to Cancel Unpaid Item
Hi, I sold an item a week ago in an auction. The buyer immediately requested a cancellation and then later that day asked me to decline the cancellation. I am an infrequent seller and, unsure of the process, thought maybe he can't pay for it while the cancellation request is pending, so I declined it. When he had not paid for the item after 4 days I contacted him to say I would give him til the end of day before I cancelled the order and he replied 'alright'. So when he still did not pay, I tried to cancel the order but it says 'cancellation exists' and I can't see any way to action it. Please advise, thanks.

·2 years agoI don't know if this is by stupidity or evil on eBay's part, but once a cancellation case is opened by the buyer within an hour of the transaction the seller is unable to open another if s/he declines it or allows it to expire. Back before Managed Payments the seller had to contact Customer Service to get a credit for the Final Value Fee already charged when the transaction happened (e.g. end of auction) under the old payment setup, but now the FVF is not charged until payment and taken out of the payment so the only reason to contact CS in this situation is on the slim chance that the buyer would actually get a strike (and the seller would be protected from negative feedback) if that option is even available to CS agents (which I highly doubt).
