Unable to Bid
Can someone please tell me why I would be prohibited from bidding on an item? I received this message with 90 seconds left in an auction: “You are unable to purchase this item due to restrictions from the sellerâ€
I have no idea why, never bought from this seller before and have a great buyer rating…very frustrating…seller would have been paid more if I was allowed to bid…seems contrary to a fair auction process.
eBay customer service, what say you?

I would guess it has to do with your low Feedback count of (10) (as of this writing). Some Sellers come here asking how they can block Buyers with (0) Feedback thinking that every or most new Buyers are out to scam them. Urban legend.
Your account has NO Retracted bids in the last 12 months.
You have not left ANY Neutral or Negative Feedback for Sellers.
Every Buyer has 100% Positive Feedback because back in 2008 eBay stopped letting Sellers leave Neutral or Negative FB for Buyers. So 100% Positive Feedback is standard fair for straight Buying accounts and has little meaning.
If you have 2 ore more Unpaid items you would be blocked from most Sellers because of the minimum DEFAULT block setting of 2. Those trikes take 12 months to roll off an account.

OP8 months agoThanks for replying to me, I appreciate it. I guess I need to buy more things…I’ve always paid immediately with a credit card, so I’ve never been one of those that doesn’t pay. I have two purchases that are processed, paid, and in transit to me, but I haven’t received the items yet in the mail. It’s frustrating, but it is what it is. Thanks again for replying, I appreciate it!

Mentor8 months agoThis is Ebay's Ask A Mentor forum, not Customer Service.
Sellers are allowed to block members from bidding/buying, no reason necessary.
Typical reasons for blocking a bidder/buyer:
Buyers who caused X number of unpaid orders within the past 12 months.
Buyers shipping address is in a location they don't ship to.
Buyers who are currently winning or have bought X amount of items within the past 10 days.
Or no reason at all necessary.

OP8 months agoThanks for answering my question…I haven’t had any bad interactions. I do have two un-related purchases that have been processed and paid, but I haven’t yet received my purchases yet (in the mail). Never thought I’d be locked out because I’m actively buying, but now I know! Thank you!
