UK account cant be transferred to the USA

Opened account in 2000 when I lived in the UK.
I now live in the USA.
I can't transfer my account to the USA according to Customer Services. The solution was (paraphrasing), Create a new account and leave the UK account. So I have to give up a 26 year old account, all of my reviews and history.
A man walked on another celestial body 60 years ago (the moon), yet eBay is apparently unable to change an account location?!?!
Somebody help and reassure me I am not tripping, is this fact?

I think what you might have run into is the fact that accounts can and do get hacked on eBay and perhaps from a security standpoint they have no provisions for country to country transfer of an account's location.

You do have to create a new account based in USA.
I know leaving you old account is frustrating.
As a buyer, it's less concerning. Seller's can't block 0 feedback buyers. You pay, we ship.
