Two orders shipped in one box,
Ebay will not accept the same tracking number on both orders, even though the orders were combined.
I told the buyer that everything was shipped together.. but I cannot get Ebay to "say" all was shipped.
HELP!

OP8 months agoI can track the package with all the product in it.. I HAVE the tracking number that Ebay won't let me post. And The buyer is an EBAY seller.. and she is also learning how to do this stuff.
I will possibly relist some items and see if there is a way to add combine shipping.. OR I will ship items separately from now on. and not offer combined.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

Mentor8 months agoAgain, you can combine shipping if the buyer ID on multiple transactions is the same. If the IDs are not the same, you cannot combine the shipments (even if the buyer's actual name is the same). eBay will not let you post the tracking number if the IDs are not the same because guest orders cannot be combined.

OP8 months agoYou are probably right, Mr Lincoln,
I may just not worry about it.
I was trying to do the right thing.. but they make the app too hard to deal with .
Thank you all, for your input.

Actually, you do need to figure out how to deal with multiple items in one box so they ALL get tracking. The reason is that for each item that does NOT have tracking you will be a late shipping defect if tracking is not uploaded and validated within your Handling time. Additionally, you may be at risk if a Buyer files a claim that they did not receive their item on an item that has NO tracking. The claim requires you to upload tracking ... if the item never had it then it might not work and you would be required to refund the Buyer.
Just so you know, we are not trying to tell you what to do, we just try to explain how eBay works and pitfalls of some of the systems. In the end it is certainly your decision but our team will always try to give you the best advice to protect your account and avoid issues.

OP8 months agoThanks again.. another issue. I buy shipping and print my own labels from an outside source. (it's cheaper) so I don't know if I can ever combine order as an option unless I relist all my products from Scratch

You do know that other than USPS Media Mail eBay gives you a shipping discount right???
Maybe the fact that you are not printing your labels through eBay is why you can't add the tracking number to other items purchased from one customer.

OP8 months agoThanks for the info. I haven't been able to figure out how to add COMBINE orders to my page. I do very few sales on Ebay. (Most on Etsy) so I'm not going to worry about it. I sent a note to my customer and told her all her items were in the same box.

You're welcome!
If the buyer pays for the items separately, they will not combine onto one transaction. But you can combine orders using bulk shipping or just by entering the tracking number onto the second order (assuming it's not for guest orders as already explained).
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/labels-packaging-tips/buying-printing-shipping-labels?id=4157&st=3&pos=3&query=Printing%20and%20canceling%20shipping%20labels&intent=bulk%20shipping&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1118
If you’re shipping multiple orders to the same buyer in a single package, the Bulk Shipping Tool will indicate if the order can be combined. Simply select the Combine orders per buyer link and complete the label purchase. Tracking will be automatically uploaded to each order, and the value of the combined items will be assessed for any liability coverage included or added to the label purchase.

Mentor8 months agoHi @gadflynotecards
Here is a step-by-step procedure for Combining two or more Buy it now items that were paid for separately by the same Buyer who did NOT purchase as a Guest. I have asked eBay for years to add the words Combine shipping on the Awaiting shipping - print shipping labels page in Seller Hub but they have simply failed to do that and make the process easy to use. THAT is why you are having trouble, not your fault, it is eBay's lack of programming to make it easy. The process will take you to the Bulk label page and the label when printed will NOT have the regular label info receipt on the page, that will be a secondary print function if you need that information.
You can actually Combine multiple Buy it now items prior to printing a label:
-Sold items will be in your Awaiting shipment-print shipping label file
-Use the check box on the left for the items to be Combined
-At the top of the list is a Shipping drop-down menu on the left, select Print shipping labels
-The items will be moved to the Bulk label flow
-Use the check boxes again on the left and then click the Combine button at the top of the page
-The items will be Combined, over on the right you can adjust the weight, box dimensions, Shipping method (if necessary) and then review and print the label in the upper right.
-If you want a receipt it is a secondary function on the Bulk label flow.
-You can Refund the Buyer the shipping overage once you ship the package.

Mentor8 months agoHi @gadflynotecards
It sounds like you combined orders for two different buyer IDs. The same tracking # cannot be posted to orders from different buyer IDs.
It may be the same buyer, but if the buyer purchased the items as a guest, the buyer IDs are different (they will look almost the same, but there will be a slight difference).
Unfortunately, you'll take a hit on your metrics for not uploading tracking on time, but at least you know what to look for in the future before combining shipping.
