Trying to understand motivation of this suspected Seller Fraud.
I mostly sell items on ebay but I'm really wondering about this purchase and ebay's poor handling of the problem. I suspect seller fraud.
I bought an $366 item since the price was excellent with delivery in required time from a seller in Indiana. Tracking showed it was shipped from Ontario, CA which is near me. It showed "out for delivery" with UPS but the truck stopped at the next business. Not normal driver so I asked but he had no packages for me. Tracking changed an hour later to delivered, with a signature of "Crystal". I contacted UPS, who said that tracking was delivered to a different name at a different address but same city. UPS aren't allowed to give me that name & address since they have no evidence the shipment was for me.
Seller has zero feedback and is new. I bought the only item he was selling so has no other listings. Hasn't responded to message from me or ebay customer service. I thought the customer service understood this wasn't a normal delivery problem but they are just going by a script. Check nearby addresses, etc. I hope they put a hold on seller payout but who knows? Now I'm waiting for the seller to respond for 3 more days and then go to the next step. Is ebay really this unable to make intelligent decisions and must follow the script? It is like dealing with AI nonsense.
So was the seller hoping to get paid by ebay before the problems cropped up and then disappear? I assume he was shipping to a cohort in his fraud as ebay only show "delivered". Interesting is that ebay claimed they had no name or address except where it was supposed to go.
