Trouble with sellers
I have made two purchases in the last two weeks. I’ve received neither and have had to cancel the orders. I’ve been a buyer and seller on eBay for almost 25 years. It seems as though the seller standards have significantly dropped. Is anyone else having trouble?? I’m very frustrated that eBay allows this seller behavior.

OP4 months agoI still have not received a resolution to this issue. I cannot ask eBay to step in until June 3 now. With every action it extends the waiting period. I’m going to have to dispute the charge on my credit card which is ridiculous. As a seller- I guess I should be thankful for the support but I have never needed it because I don’t treat buyers like this. As a buyer- once this is done- I don’t purchase another item on eBay.

eBay does not allow this behavior, but I'm sure you can understand that there is no way to force a seller to ship. Not always, but often there are plenty of red flags in the listing or seller's feedback that would warn you away from buying.
In your situation, when you ask to cancel the orders, the seller is off the hook as you requested it. If you had opened an item not received case instead, that would have gone on the sellers record.
If this should happen again in the future (and I hope it doesn't), here's what to do...
Check the estimated delivery date shown in your Purchase History. When that date has passed, you have up to 30 days to use the option next to the transaction to open a case for an item not received. The seller will have 3 business days to prove delivery or refund. If he doesn't, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. eBay will force the refund.

OP4 months agoeBay would not allow me to open a case until a certain period of time- of which I either needed to repurchase another item or wait and do so. Both of these items are for graduation gifts which has come and gone so I need to figure out a different gift. This is the third seller issue in 3 months but the last two being in the last two weeks. I had to battle for a month to get a refund 3-4 months ago for an item never shipped and no reply from the seller because the timelines required for the seller to respond. Luke I said, I’ve been a seller and buyer since 2001. I’ve never seen it this bad. As a seller, (and purchaser) I am all for being put on a probationary period if I don’t communicate or ship the item. I purchase very little from eBay but 3 events in the last 3-4 months is ridiculous.

I'm sure you're frustrated given your last few orders have not gone well, however it should not be "a battle" to receive a refund for an item not received. Just follow the instructions provided in my first response. That's not only how you get your money back, but how it gets on the seller's record.
Not always, but you can often tell if you are buying from a reliable seller by reviewing feedback and the item description carefully. Also check the seller's country of registration (on his feedback page) before making a decision to buy.

OP4 months agoYes, Thank you- as I said- I’ve been doing this since 2001. I’ve had bumps along the way as you would expect but not like this- which is why I posted. I’m aware of processes but something had changed in the last year or so.
