transaction defect rate,
For some reason, Ebay sold several items from my store that had already been sold so I had to refund the buyer their money and the reason was that I was out of stock. This happened several times in a couple of weeks. Now I am having transaction defect rate too high and they want me to fix it. I do not know how to remove the transactions to lower the defect rate. Anyone have any suggestions?

You may be experiencing what sellers call Ghost Listings. You should report this to eBay as they have been trying to track down this bug for a long time but since it's random it's been hard to do.
A ghost listing occurs when an item that has been sold reappears for sale without the seller's intent to relist, seemingly relisted by eBay.
When faced with a ghost listing, sellers are put in a difficult position. They must either cancel the transaction due to the item being out of stock, which unfortunately results in an “out of stock†listing defect on their account, or they must find an alternative solution, such as sourcing the item elsewhere to fulfill the order for the buyer.
eBay is actively working to address and prevent these occurrences, and your detailed reports are invaluable to our efforts.
To ensure eBay can address and resolve ghost listings efficiently, eBay requests your cooperation in providing specific details when you encounter these issues. Here’s how you can help:
Note down the Item ID of the ghost listing.
If available, also record the Item ID of the original listing.
Utilize the feedback form located within the “Advanced Listing Tool†(pictured below), and include the following information:
Both Item IDs as mentioned earlier.
Include the phrase “ghost listing†in your feedback to help us identify the issue.
Provide as much detail as possible about the listing to aid in our investigation.

Mentor1 year ago@39500qw a little while back there were several complaints of eBay relisting items that had already been sold and sellers were getting out of stock defects.
after reading these posts, i looked at my active listings and indeed there were 3 that were relisted, even tho they had been sold quite a long time ago. i was lucky i caught it b4 anyone purchased.
i am tagging @comics-scifi-collectibles to possibly get more precise info for you on how to report these auto relists so your defects can be removed.

You can only fix it by
1) time
2) selling more items
3) Not cancelling any more sales
Do a thorough inventory to make sure you don't have anything else double-listed.
