That can happen if the USPS clerk does not have their counter scanner set right. At the counter they can scan packages as delivered if a customer is picking something up or as shipped if a customer is sending outbound packages. I assume you stood in line at the Post office and the clerk scanned your packages? If not then you need to start doing that.
