Top Rated Seller status is impossible for me to achieve.
I sale items that require information from the buyer before it can ship. Half or more buyers will not read the item description and send the information I need, so I end up having to contact them and waiting to hear from them, which can take days. If I was able to add a text box on these listings requiring this information before the buyer can purchase the item, then it would solve this problem. I did have the Handling Time for these items set to 3 days so I would have more time to deal with these sellers, but this violates Top Rated seller rules. If I set Handling Time to 1 day, then I meet Top Rated seller rules, but that doesn't provided enough time to deal with these buyers, so I get a strike for late shipment. I'm in a no win situation here.

I recently purchased an item that could be personalized and there was a text box for that personalization right in the listing. I was asked to choose the item type, the length, then to enter the personalization into a text box (the first two items were entered from drop down menus… before purchase.
I’ve never made a listing like that, so I don’t know exactly how it is done, so I can advise you only that it is possible.
