top rated seller 10% discount missing on several of my sales
Summary: maverick_acres_mercantile shared an issue with eBay's Top Rated Seller discount not being applied consistently across their sales. Despite assurances from eBay support that this was a glitch and would be resolved, no solution has been provided after several business days. wooden_flower suggested checking handling and return settings, noting a discrepancy with some items showing different handling times. comics-scifi-collectibles inquired about free returns compliance, which is required for the discount. maverick_acres_mercantile suspects a glitch, especially with multi-quantity listings, and plans to investigate further.
I reached out to eBay's chat agent last week on the 8th of july 2026 and explained I have several items sold that were missing the top rated seller discount of 10% off of seller fees. They assured me that it was a glitch as I have no bad seller metrics, no other issues to take the discount away. Also it is random because some same type items in the same categories have it and some dont. Also some multiple item sales dont have it but the same item purchased in singles do have it. They said thet would have it fixed, fees credited back to me, and all future sales fixed in 3 business days and they would respond to me with the fix. Today marks day 7 days or 5 business days taking out the weekend and nothing has been fixed and no one has responded back to me on it. I still have sales daily that have or dont have the discount. I know it is not much sometimes but it all adds up if the system keeps stealing from me for a year, 2 years, etc. they were supposed to check my entire account to look for any missing. Anyone else have this issue and has it been fixed for you ? I tried chat again today and it only gives me the option to email them now and no live agent. I have a copy of the complete transcript of the chat with the specialist on the 8th.

Mentor1 month ago@maverick_acres_mercantile You sold 116 items in the last 90 days but only 109 had Free Returns. I am wondering if this is the issue? Same or one day handling and Free Returns are a requirement.
eBay Top Rated Plus requirements and benefits
Once you've reached Top Rated status, you can qualify your listings for these exclusive Top Rated Plus benefits if you offer same- or 1-business-day handling time and 30-day or longer free returns:
The Top Rated Plus seal will be displayed prominently in search results and in the listing description
A 10% discount on your final value fees, which is calculated on the total amount of the sale, including shipping and tax
The discount does not apply to the per order portion of the final value fee
The discount does not apply to any additional final value fees applied to sales in categories where you're rated as Very High in your service metrics for 'item not as described' returns
Please note, the 10% final value fee discount is only available to sellers resident in the country in which they're Top Rated. For example, if you're selling through eBay.com, you must be resident in the US to qualify for this discount.
Free returns must be based on your item's location in order for your listings to qualify for Top Rated Plus:
If the item location is in the same country as the eBay site you listed on, you need to offer 30-day free domestic returns
If the item location isn't in the same country as the eBay site you listed on, you need to offer 30-day free international returns
In some product categories, we'll extend the discount benefit (but not the seal) even if you don't offer 30-day free returns.
See the full list of circumstances where the discount benefit applies>>
In Jewelry & Watches, and most Collectibles & Art categories, you need to offer 14-day free returns

OP1 month agoI originally had all my listings set for 1 day handling and free returns since eBay made free returns mandatory on auto parts and accessories. It won’t even let me complete the listing unless free return is selected. I did find a few still listed items yesterday that somehow were set for 2 day handling and a few others that were buyer pay returns but have no idea why either was set that way as I’m the only One listing items and set them all the same everytime. I fixed those already now as of last night. The 116/109 sales you mentioned would account for 7 of the sales maybe but I found 42 sales that didn’t give me the 10% discount but should have and I haven’t even gone back further than 90 days yet because eBay said they would find all of more existed. I wonder how long they e been doing it? Crazy I’ve heard nothing back from them. Thanks for your reply and time to help me.

Did the items have 1 day handling? I looked at one item - an auto part - that had 2 days. I’m going to look at the TRS+ chart to see if there are exceptions to the 1 day handling.

OP1 month agoThanks for checking and responding. All of my items have been set for one day handling for the last 5 years. Unless eBay glitched and changed it, lol. I ship same day or next if PO is closed.

There are no exceptions on the 1 day handling, only exceptions on the 30 day free returns.
The Jeep throttle is the part I saw with 2 days handling.
Do you use business policies? If not, you could use bulk edit to change all items to 1 day handling - it would not matter if they already have 1 day.
I don’t know of any easy way to see items that do not have 1 day handling.

OP1 month agothanks I will double check. I do use business policies. I have 3 set policies for shipping. 1. flat by weight for north, west, and north east for heavy items since Im in Tx, 2. flat by weight for small lite items for those same areas, and 3. media mail to everywhere. all of them are set for 1 day handling. I also use the policies and have all items set for free 30 day returns.

You might try using relist or sell similar on the throttle to see why it is picking up 2 day handling. Then delete the draft 😀
The multi quantity item is odd - generally when something is wrong it is consistently wrong. I have not seen any other posts on this error - did you try asking on the seller discussion board to see if anyone else is having this problem? I don’t take the word of CS on issues like this.

OP1 month agoThat throttle body sold a few days back so it is deleted now. Not sure why it showed 2day handling cause all mine were set for 1 day and free returns but maybe eBay glitched them somehow. I did noticed some speakers I sold weeks ago showed back up with same available quantity on my listings several days after the sale and after I deleted them. They showed up after eBay techs got involved with “viewing my account”. I did ask same questions on the normal disscusions page but no responses yet.

OP1 month agowhat's also weird is like I sold 10 lugnuts to a buyer out of a 18 qty listing ( because they are sold 1 each) and i didnt give me the 10% discount but two days before sold a single lugnut from same listing and it gave me the 10% discount on that one. It is deffinetly more on my multi items per buyer from same listing sales but not confined to it. I could not find the common denominator or the rhyme or reason. I am a vetran seller for 20 years so I have a decent idea on how things go but we cant predict or fix glitches, lol
