Title error buyer wants refund.
I sold a phone for my employer. I’m not savvy to eBay and don’t use it often was just a favor. I let eBay make automated listing suggestions including title which ended up being wrong by adding the word Max to a phone description. I did describe the phone correctly in the description. Buyer received the item, pointed out error and indicated he wanted some compensation. I explained I had none to give was not my sell. He now has requested eBay refund. How do I ensure money (several hundred, more than was received for the item) does not be taken from my personal bank account (that does not have that kind of money in it anyway) when I have not authorized the return?

Mentor2 years ago@imvalarie YOU are responsible for ALL items you list and sell. The phone was not as described so you have two choices>
If the buyer was open to a partial refund then that's the best option for you. Then get the money back from your boss.
If the buyer files a refund request saying that the item is not as described then you need to accept the return and issue the return shipping label.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee overrules your returns policy. Your return policy only applies if the buyer files a buyer's remorse return: Doesn't fit, changed mind, etc.
If you do not accept the return willingly then the buyer can ask eBay to step in and force a refund. You do not get your seller's fees back, you get a defect and the buyer may be allowed to keep the item.
The refund will come from your checking account OR your back up payment method for selling costs. I use a credit card. You add the back up payment method on this page>
