Theft of item in transit using eBay simple delivery
Summary: donkeebrown shared an issue about selling an item on eBay and using simple delivery, where the customer received an empty package. They suspect the item was stolen in transit and had to issue a refund, resulting in financial loss. donkeebrown expressed frustration with eBay's customer service regarding claims for such losses, mentioning similar past experiences. eastlaneave suggested connecting with eBay UK Community pages and provided instructions for contacting eBay UK's customer service for assistance.
I sold an item which was sent to customer using eBay simple delivery.
Upon receipt customer told me that they had received an empty box in an envelope but no item.
Supplied pictures show parcel had been opened and the resealed (badly) but it appears that the item had been removed.
I can only assume that the product had been removed from the package while in transit.
Customer contacted eBay and it has been necessary for me to issue a full refund to avoid troubling customer further.
How do I now claim the cost of the item and postage as I am now out of pocket following this theft.
Ebay's customer service and advice available to customers and sellers on the matter of claims for postage losses seems woeful and extremely difficult to access.
This is my third loss for items sent by simple delivery. Previously I have not followed up the losses because eBay is so unhelpful on the matter!
