The seller is ignoring the issue
Summary: igngoris0 explains they ordered a 200 mL bottle of Versace Eros on eBay, but received a package that weighed only 0.9 lbs, indicating a mismatch between the order and the delivery. The documented weight discrepancy occurred before reaching their third-party shipping company, suggesting the issue lies with the seller. Despite contacting the seller and opening a return request, the seller has not provided a return shipping label. igngoris0 seeks advice on whether to wait for the seller or request eBay's intervention, highlighting evidence of the package weight to support their claim.
What can I do if the seller refuses to take responsibility for a refund when I can clearly prove that the item I received is not the item I ordered?
Here’s what happened:
I ordered a 200 mL bottle of Versace Eros on eBay. When my third-party shipping company received the package, their app showed that the package weighed 0.9 lbs. That immediately seemed suspicious to me, because a 200 mL bottle of perfume should weigh more than that.
To make sure this wasn't a mistake on my shipping company's end, I checked the carrier's tracking information. The carrier was OnTrac, and they also recorded the package as weighing 0.9 lbs when they received it from the seller.
So this is important: the 0.9 lb weight was recorded before the package ever reached my third-party shipping company. In other words, the discrepancy did not happen at my forwarding company. The package was already registered at that weight when the carrier received it from the seller.
I contacted the seller and explained all of this. However, the seller basically claims ignorance and says that the correct item was shipped.
But based on the documented weight, it seems extremely unlikely that the package contained the 200 mL perfume I ordered. I have evidence showing the package weight from the carrier from the time it was received from the seller.
I have already opened an eBay return request because the item I received is not what I ordered. However, the seller has still not provided a return shipping label and appears to be ignoring the issue.
What should I do at this point?
Should I wait for the seller to provide the label, or should I ask eBay to step in? I have screenshots/documentation of the package weight from both my third-party shipping company and OnTrac showing that the package weighed 0.9 lbs before it ever reached me.
Any advice from experienced eBay buyers or sellers would be greatly appreciated.
