The package to Hawaii is missing per tracking please help

I need help please, buyer didn't receive the package ship to Hawaii and both buyer and seller contacted the post office and the seller (Me) contacted the USPS Postal Inspectors, but we never heard back from anyone. The package was sent on Nov 10 and it should arrive on Nov 25 but it never did. Per tracking as soon as it left colorado the package just disappeared without any more tracking. Why is this my problem and Ebay if forcing me to refund the buyer the purchase price, but what about me who is going to pay me to replace the item the post office lost. I was under the impression ebay will pay me or the buyer but i guess not. What a scam by ebay..

@bem_8513 You are responsible for the package until delivery. You refund the buyer, then file a claim with usps. https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm
