The package I sent via Fed Ex arrived damaged. I refunded buyer. How do I file claim with Fed Ex Ground?
Summary: hestonsky is facing challenges with filing a claim for a damaged item shipped via FedEx Ground. Despite refunding the buyer and paying for the return shipping, they are encountering contradictory information from FedEx regarding the claim timeline. Additionally, the online claim form is difficult to navigate, and attempts to contact eBay support for assistance have been unsuccessful. They are seeking advice on how to proceed with the claim process.
Longtime Ebay seller here. I'm very frustrated right now. I sold an item to a buyer. It was shipped via Fed Ex Ground. It arrived heavily damaged. I told the buyer to open a claim and that I would refund her. (Which I did) I also paid the return shipping label as part of that process. I'm trying to figure out how to make a claim with Fed Ex for the damage. Isn't there some kind of link to do it through Ebay? I'm getting conflicting information on how to proceed. One set of instructions from Fed Ex Ground says I have to wait 90 days to file a claim, otherwise it will be rejected. While another part of the instructions says I have to file within 90 days or it will be too late. There's a hard to understand claim form on the Fed Ex website that lists columns where I'm supposed to input my information, but when I click those columns it's just highlights part of the form. After much digging on the Ebay website I requested to talk to one of their agents who was supposed to call within 2 minutes. It's now an hour later. Can someone help me with this process? Thanks

Mentor1 week ago@hestonsky Sorry for the delay in replying, life has been busy. Please share the item number if you are not sure which Fed Ex option you used.
If it is NOT ground economy then you file the claim on the Fed Ex site.
If something goes wrong with your delivery, you can file a claim with FedEx. For all services except Ground Economy, please visit FedEx to file and manage your claim.
If you used FedEx Ground Economy and your package is damaged or lost from the time it’s first scanned by FedEx until it's delivered to a USPS facility, FedEx Ground Economy is responsible for a maximum replacement value of up to $100 plus transportation costs.
To submit a Ground Economy claim, go to the FedEx website, and download and complete the ‘FedEx Ground Economy Claim Form’.
Once submitted, the claim resolution process takes approximately 4-6 weeks. FedEx will email you about the status of your claim. Approved claims are paid to you by check.
With FedEx Ground Economy claims keep in mind:
Only sellers can file claims
Claims must be filed within 90 calendar days from when FedEx receives the package
FedEx may reimburse the wholesale cost up to $100 per package, plus shipping charges
Claims payments are remitted by check
You can find more information about the claims process in the FedEx service guide
