the new "automatic payment" on "Buy It Now"
Anyone else getting the "automatic payment" problem with "Buy It Now"? When using "Make Best Offer" on these listings, instead of the seller who agrees to the offer sending an invoice, with a choice of payment options and shipping choices, eBay is automatically directing the payment through an entity called, "eBay Commerce Inc.", as shown on my PayPal page, and choosing the payment option it prefers, instead of using buyer's account listing "Preferred" payment option. Sounds like eBay's just making itself an interest-free, short-term loan, before passing the payment through to the seller. It claims the payment immediately, but the seller doesn't actually receive the processed payment for an extended time, apparently.

Mentor3 years agoI think you have two different things here.
1. Is the pre-approval of payments on offers. This is something eBay has implemented to cut down on unpaid items. A seller can choose to opt out.
2. Payment processing times occur on all payments. Once a buyer pays the payment will go into a processing or pending status while it clears the buyers account. Some payments go on hold depending on the sellers account. In either of these situations eBay doesn't collect interest on the funds.

Mentor3 years agoeBay has changed the way some bids and offers are paid to avoid issues of nonpayment.
Sellers control whether a valid payment method is required for bids or offers on those sellers' items. Check your Buyer Requirements at the bottom.
eBay controls whether each buyer account is subject to those requirements.
Buyers have no direct control over that requirement when making bids or offers for those sellers' items.
You can see which automatic payment method is set for your offers and auctions here:

To change your payment method, delete the indicated payment method and you should be directed to specify a new one the next time you make an offer or place a bid, if required.
