The buyer requested a refund, I accepted it, but the buyer lied and stated the reason that the product does not work, is broken, and he also added that the product is used, which is not true. I received the product, checked it, and everything works fine. What should I do now? I reported a problem with a buyer to customer support and customer support told me that I should wait until a dispute is opened. Should I refund the buyer?

OP1 year agoNow I have sent the money to the buyer but I intend to restore justice because buyers should not cheat. I also reported the buyer but I do not know how this will help me. I was cheated and suffered losses. I am very upset because I am helpless and unprotected

OP1 year agoIt seems that as a seller I am not protected in any way, I am obliged to return the money and bear the losses because of the deceiving buyer, and he probably won’t get into trouble for it.

Let me see if I understand. The buyer messaged you to request a return/refund and you said okay. The buyer didn't open a dispute. Now you have the item back in your hands.
I looked at four of your listings at random, and all four said that you do not accept returns. So I assume the item that's the subject of this thread likewise said no returns?
You asked if you should refund the buyer. What else would you do? You have the item back in your hands, you can't keep both the item and the money. If the buyer hasn't opened a dispute, what I would do is refund just the item price, and not refund what the shipping cost. If the buyer opens a Not As Described claim, though, that option goes out the window ... you will have to refund all the payment.

OP1 year agoYes, I do not accept returns and the buyer used the guaranteed return from eBay, he indicated the reason that the product was not working, but he lied. I have to return the money by the 29th, but I have not returned it yet. I doubt whether it is right to wait until the buyer contacts Ebay? The buyer clearly deceived, damaged the packaging by gluing a label to the factory packaging and used the device, because of which I will suffer losses and I also paid for return shipping.

Mentor1 year agoThat was really bad advice. Refund by the deadline, do not wait for a dispute or ebay will refund anyway and also then put a strike and penalty on your account.
Next REPORT the buyer for abuse of the ebay MBG.

Then after you report the buyer you appeal the case:

Mentor1 year agoAfraid not accepting returns often turns a buyer into a liar and also risks losing your item and money.
Reporting the buyer is the best you can do as buyer gets enough complaints ebay will restrict or suspend them.
Appealing the decision is a 50/50 chance depending on how well you explain things and whether there was some revealing communications through ebay messages that ebay can review, or better yet buyer has had previous similar complaints on their account.
At least be happy you received your item back in re-saleable condition.

OP1 year agoBut you don't think it's fair that I should be happy that I got at least something. And I could have lost everything. That's right. I've already encountered scammers more than once who buy a product, use it and return it. Or, when buying a product, they take out some parts and return it.

Mentor1 year agoIt is never fair when things like this happen, but better not a complete lost. Afraid there will always will be bad buyers (and sellers), but no clear way to avoid them other than to minimize it by knowing the rules and risks of selling on any venue and making sure to report violations.
