The buyer has problem with custom in his country and want me to refund the purchase
I sold an item to a customer in Sri Lanka. After the item arrived, the customer asked to change his/her name. I told him/her it was illegal for me to go and change his information and that he needed to do that himself. We had email communications for at least ten times. The item got to his/her country, and it was at the customs office. He had trouble getting it and gave me an international telephone number to explain to the customs office that the purchase was his. I told him/her I had no way of calling an international, and even if I had an option on my phone, it would cost me the money. He/she said there was not much and insisted that I call. I explained to him/her that I can't. The package was already in his country and at the customs office. I have done my part. Now he wants a refund and said he didn't receive the item.

Mentor2 years agoThe customs department will return the package back to you if the customs fees are not paid. Once you receive it back, you can refund item cost only.

OP2 years agoThank you. How can I talk to an eBay representative to ensure they understand and do not refund before the stone is returned? I tried to talk to a live agent, but it kept telling me to solve the refund or contact the customer, which I did.
