Terrible epxerieces with ebay
To eBay Customer Support and Escalation Department,
I am formally escalating a complaint regarding a highly unacceptable purchase experience involving a refurbished unlocked iPhone purchased through the eBay platform.
What should have been a routine transaction turned into a prolonged and deeply frustrating situation caused by operational failures from the seller, FedEx, and eBay itself.
This matter involves:
- Misleading platform search behavior
- Seller negligence and poor communication
- Shipping mismanagement
- Failure of delivery protocols
- Lack of effective customer support intervention
- Significant waste of time and unnecessary stress
From the beginning, the transaction was mishandled.
The listing indicated a reasonable shipping timeframe. Shortly after purchase, I received a shipment notification and FedEx tracking number. However, for approximately six days, FedEx tracking showed only that a label had been created and that the seller had not actually tendered the package to FedEx.
During this period, I repeatedly contacted the seller through eBay’s official messaging system. Responses were intentionally slow, vague, and unhelpful. The seller repeatedly requested information already available through the transaction itself, creating unnecessary delays instead of resolving the issue.
The seller then attempted to shift responsibility to FedEx, claiming that FedEx had failed to collect the package. This explanation is difficult to accept considering the excessive delay and lack of transparency throughout the process.
The shipment was eventually sent only after multiple complaints and repeated follow-up attempts from my side.
Unfortunately, the situation deteriorated even further upon arrival.
The package was suddenly marked for return due to an address issue caused by the omission of the apartment number. Despite the fact that this was a simple and easily verifiable problem:
- FedEx made no meaningful attempt to contact me
- No delivery correction process was initiated
- No verification call was made
- The seller apparently instructed immediate return of the package
- The seller completely ceased communication
I contacted FedEx multiple times requesting authorization to collect the package personally. I was informed that the return had effectively been prioritized over customer delivery resolution.
Only through the automated FedEx system was I eventually able to request a “hold for pickup,” which FedEx later confirmed manually. Ironically, the automated system proved more effective and reasonable than the actual customer support process.
I ultimately recovered the package personally from a FedEx facility.
At that point, after enduring days of delays, uncertainty, failed communication, and logistical incompetence, I discovered that the product delivered was not the model I originally intended to purchase.
After carefully reviewing the sequence of events, I reproduced the search process within eBay using the exact specifications of the device I was attempting to buy. Once again, eBay’s search engine prominently displayed misleadingly similar products despite the use of highly specific search criteria.
I have preserved screenshots documenting this issue.
For expensive consumer electronics, this type of search behavior is unacceptable and potentially misleading. A platform handling high-value transactions should not prioritize ambiguous or confusing product matches that can reasonably induce consumer error.
The fact that this confusion occurred in the middle of an already chaotic transaction environment only amplified the problem.
Equally concerning was my interaction with eBay customer support. During two separate conversations with support agents, it became evident that eBay lacked meaningful operational control or effective communication channels with the seller during an active dispute.
As a customer, I find it extremely alarming that:
- The seller could remain unresponsive
- FedEx could refuse reasonable delivery solutions
- A shipment could be nearly returned without practical intervention
- And eBay itself appeared unable to effectively manage or resolve the situation
This entire experience reflects serious deficiencies in seller oversight, logistics coordination, and customer protection standards.
As a direct consequence of these failures, I experienced:
- Significant delays
- Lost time
- Disruption to planned travel arrangements
- Repeated customer service interactions
- Unnecessary stress
- Loss of confidence in the platform
Under these circumstances, I believe compensation is entirely justified.
I am therefore formally requesting:
- Financial compensation,
- A substantial partial refund or account credit,
- Or an equivalent commercial resolution proportional to the inconvenience and mishandling involved in this transaction.
If this matter cannot be resolved appropriately through normal customer service channels, I will consider escalating the issue further through consumer protection channels and formal complaint procedures.
I request that this case be reviewed by a supervisor or senior escalation specialist rather than processed through standard automated support responses.
