For several weeks I am required to log in/verify myself almost every time I click on anything. In between doing that, the site flashes a page saying they are verifying my browser. Now today I cannot search anything. Pages don't load and then disappear altogether. All other site work fine.

Regarding search results disappearing: try turning off just the "ABP filters" under the Advanced menu if you use Ad Block Plus.
Those -- and the equivalent "Anti-circumvention" filters from Ad Block -- have caused problems in the past, triggering on promoted listings, generally slowing down the search results page from loading, and occasionally when eBay changes things to make it harder for users to block promoted listings, wiping out non-promoted listings as well.
Verification issues can be caused by several different things.
If you are using a VPN, hotspot or Starlink network, that can cause issues.
If you are not using any of those, try another browser. If another browser works better, try manually erasing just your eBay cookies in the original browser.
