·1 year agoThat is set by the state that the item is being shipped to. If that state has sales tax and the item is not exempt (and the buyer is not exempt and has supplied the paperwork) then eBay COLLECTS the tax imposed by state (and local) government of the address it is delivered to and remits it to that state.
