Taxes
I seem to remember that a few years ago Biden stated sales for over $600 have to be included when I file taxes. I haven't received a 1099 from Ebay and contacted them. Through the chat I was advised had to be a minimum of $20,000 in sales to receive a 1099 and I'm nowhere near $20,000.
Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks,
Sharon

Mentor7 months agoI'm pretty sure the IRS expects all of us -- income tax payers -- to report all our income on our Form 1040 tax return form, or the appropriate version. Whether we get a Form 1099-K for our online eBay sales or not. And regardless of the amount of that income.
The federal minimums for eBay to issue Form 1099-K to sellers, and to the IRS, changed again this past summer of 2025, with the passage/enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Those minimum thresholds for tax year 2025 are now twofold:
1. Number of dollars of gross income: Twenty Thousand ($20,000.00) and
2. Number of transactions: Two Hundred (200).
Other online selling sites, such as Etsy, Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace, etc., must also meet those 1099-K reporting requirements.
Several individual states, as well as the District of Columbia, have lower thresholds for eBay (etc.) to report sales, some of which are as low as $600.00. If you live in DC or a state with a lower threshold, eBay would have made your 1099-K available to you by now.
There are a number of threads here within eBay's Ask A Mentor forum concerning Form 1099-K and general income tax reporting of eBay sales. If you can take some time this afternoon (maybe you're not into the Super Bowl?), you might want to read through some of the posts through the last couple of weeks.

OP7 months agoThanks for the information. I'm not exactly sure how much I sold, probably around $1K, Since I'm on SSDI and am not required to file due to how little I receive. I doubt that will be enough to bump me up to a higher tax bracket .
