Whether or not you are charged sales tax for OTC meds depends on the sales tax laws of the state the items are shipped to. In my state as in many others, OTC meds are taxed, prescription drugs are not.
According to one website I found, the followed states require eBay to collect sales tax on OTC meds:
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois (subject to a low rate of tax), Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakoda, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakoda, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Yeah, I am in NY and there is no sales tax on OTC products. Yet they charged me on my most recent order. Trying to get an email contact of someone at ebay is hard.
