tax on shipping
Can someone explain to me why E bay is charging sales tax on shipping cost. The post office does not collect sales tax or it is already included?

Mentor3 years agoWhether shipping is taxed or not depends entirely upon the law in the state the item is being shipped to.
It has nothing to do with whether stamps are taxed when purchased at the post office; they are not.
But in most states, when shipping is part of the cost of purchasing a taxable item, shipping is taxed as well.

·3 years agoEbay isn't charging sales tax on the shipping.
The state that the item is being shipped to is the one charging sales tax on the shipping, Ebay has to collect it for them and send it to them.
