Tax on item purchased from another country
I live in Maryland in the USA, and I just bought an item from a seller in England. At checkout, it listed the item price, shipping price, and tax. Who am I paying tax to? Is it VAT? Is it Maryland state tax? Or, is it duty? The item was GBP 399.95, shipping was GBP 33.62, and the tax was GBP 24.00. Total was GBP 457.57

Mentor2 years agoSales tax is determined by the buyer's shipping location, and any sales tax collected goes to that state. The seller's location does not matter.
