Tax on gold coin
Purchased a 2018 P Australia Gold 1/10th Oz $15 Kangaroo First Releases NGC MS 69 Sold by treasureislandcoins and got charged $21.50 in tax. Never had this happen before on any other coins except a few peace silver dollars and wonder if this is right...

The coin you purchased was in the collectable category as an Australian souvenir.
Had it been listed in the coin or bullion category, it would likely have had no tax.
