Tax On Bullion Coins
Wisconsin, where I live, does not charge tax on silver bullion coins. Why eBay is charging me sales tax on Australian bullion coins, like the 1 ounce Kookaburra?

eBay charges sales tax based on the category the item is listed in not the item. If the coin is not listed in the correct category then tax will be charged even if it is exempt. International purchases can be taxed for the same reason, the international site's categories may not be on the list.
When your coin meets the tax exempt requirements for your state but is not categorized correctly you will need to go to your state's taxing authority to find out how to apply for a refund of the sales tax.

OP10 months agoThat is **bleep**. With AI and all the technology available today the tax should not be charged in the first place. Going through all that trouble of contacting my state’s taxing authority should not be up to me. It may not even be possible. Ebay just loss a customer.
