Tax Exemption 2027 – No Action from eBay
My 2022–2025 resale tax exemption expired on December 31st. I uploaded a valid tax‑exemption form, which is effective through 2027, on January 2nd, 2026. Despite multiple phone calls and online chats, my account has still not been updated to reflect the new exemption. I operate a repair shop and purchase thousands of dollars’ worth of parts each year, so this delay is causing unnecessary issues.
eBay has provided no updates or follow‑ups. Every time I contact support, I receive generic, automated responses with no clear explanation of when the restriction will be lifted or when the verification will be completed.
There is no direct way to reach the department responsible for updating tax‑exempt accounts, and all required documentation was submitted nearly three weeks ago.
I respectfully request the following:
Confirmation that my tax‑exemption documents have been received and are being reviewed
A clear timeline for when my account will be updated
Escalation to the appropriate team if necessary

OP8 months agoeBay states that processing a new tax exemption certificate takes five business days. It has now been 17 calendar days. I expect action, not excuses. I have been told ‘five days’ at least ten times.

OP8 months agoWhy doesn’t eBay notify users in advance that their current certificate is about to expire and request a new one?

Mentor8 months agoIt is up to the resellers to keep their information up to date. It is not Ebay's responsibility to remind members of their expiring sales tax exemption.
