Tax Exempt Organization looking to PURCHASE
I just registered my Church as a Business so I can upload my Tax Exemption Certificate to buy things without Tax. The system is forcing me to become a SELLER, and won't accept my document upload without doing that. Do I have to register as an INDIVIDUAL if I don't want to be a Seller? If so, can I be Tax Exempt as an Individual?

OP2 years agoThank you everyone for your guidance. Issue is resolved. I contacted them. I needed to go into Account Settings and add an address and phone number to complete the account setup. After I did that, clicking on the button took me to the right place.

OP2 years agoThat's what I was expecting, but when I click on the 'upload documents' button, it takes me straight to the screen that reads:
Register as a Business Seller
Before you can list an item, you must first register as a seller... (with a bunch of details)
The options on this screen is either 'Get Started' or 'Register Later'. There is no other choice. If I click 'Register Later', it takes me back to the Ebay homepage and cancels the document upload.

OP2 years agoYes I am on a desktop brower, Firefox to be specific.
When I click on the link that you provided, it takes me to the same place that I'm being sent to, that does NOT say what you typed ("Send us doumentation...", but instead what I typed:
Register as a Business Seller

I click it and it takes me to the page to upload my tax ID info.
If you are clicking that link and it's not working then your next option is to clear your browser history and try another browser to see if there are bad cookies redirecting you.
I am using Windows 10 and Chrome.

OP2 years agoYes, that is the button I am clicking, and it does NOT take me to where it is taking you all.

OP2 years agoI just tried Microsoft Edge, which I NEVER use and therefore had no prior history or cookies. The same thing happened, I signed in, then went to the help article and clicked the Upload Documents button, and it took me to the Register as a Business Seller dialog.

Mentor2 years agoIf you have already started the process of registering to sell but have not completed it, possibly you are being prevented from proceeding to upload a tax exempt certificate until you complete your seller registration first.

OP2 years agoI never started registering to sell. I have no intention of selling. But it seems that it won't let me upload a tax exempt certificate without registering to sell.

Apparently something about your particular account is preventing you from using the same link that works for many other users.
You may have to contact eBay to either find out what is wrong or to submit your tax exemption certificate another way.

You just submit your documents then it takes at least a week for eBay to process the paperwork>
