Tax
Why dose eBay charge for taxes and add it to your earnings when you never earn it then charge 13 percent on the taxes you never touch seem to be a bit of a scam. Why not just say we charging you 15 percent on your sale . Can someone explain? Why

·1 year agoEVERY online platform handles fees the same way. Etsy, Amazon, Mercari . . . And on and on. I also drive for Uber and Lyft. They ALSO take their fees off the total the rider pays. Then they take out taxes, government fees, insurance, and tolls . . . then we get what’s left.
Same thing.

It is customary for payment processors to collect fees on the total amount of the buyer’s payment. Credit card companies have been doing that for years. eBay is merely following suit.

·1 year agoThey are required to collect and remit taxes to your buyer's state and/or other locale by law, so they do that.
They charge the final value fees and some other fees based on the total amount of the transaction because it's easy, simple, and they can.
Do you really want higher fees just so they aren't based on the amount of taxes?
