Switched tracking numbers on two packages
Summary: The discussion is about an issue with switched tracking numbers on two packages. biblio9 notes the problem, indicating that this mix-up has occurred. disneyshopper responds, but the conversation does not reveal specific details or outcomes, as each post contains 'None,' suggesting a lack of further information in the thread.
Had two packages and when entering the tracking numbers in to my Orders I switched them. Problem: one was US, the other was using eBay International shipping. The US destination package got the international shipping number and it's been delivered to the Hub in Illinois. Cannot edit either number now. The other package with an Australian destination now has the US tracking number. Because it was assigned the eBay international shipping service when the buyer paid for the item, the tracking is set up with the international template and shows waiting for delivery to the Hub. Is there anyone at eBay who can intervene and fix this for me? Who do I email? My only recourse has been the automated "helper" and it stinks. Picks up only key words and spits out answers that I already know about and tasks I've attempted to do but can't due to the one package already being "delivered, or --in truth-- partially delivered.

OP2 months agoYes. All is well… in a way.
I’m dealing with my error. I’ve also learned how to find the Asendia tracking number that the eBay International Shipping service applies to the package after it leaves the first Hub in Illinois. So that was a tiny positive out of my dumb error.

Are you working on desktop or the app?
On desktop you should be able to edit a tracking number (if you manually added it) or add a 2nd tracking number.
- Go to the Sold section of My eBay. https://www.ebay.com/mys/sold
- Click "Edit tracking" (there may be a delete tracking here)
- Click "+ additional tracking number"
- Add the actual tracking number and the carrier.
- Click "Save and Continue"
-- Here is a help page where you can learn more:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/tracking-items-youve-sold?id=4088
I am going to send you a direct message as well

Are the packages actually going to the right locations, you just entered the wrong tracking numbers on each order?

Mentor2 months agoI would go to your Seller Hub > Orders > Paid & Shipped
Go to each tracking number, click on EDIT and enter the correct tracking number for that sale. You won't be able to do anything with the incorrect tracking number.

OP2 months agoCannot edit! I explain this fully. I ended up resorting to eBay customer service which called me amazingly quickly. But the guy sounded so bored with his job and I thought I’d get zero advice. He did suggest clicking on the “Add an additional tracking number” but that’s useless when two actual numbers are switched. Because they are in use and already assigned I can’t add them. Can’t edit, can’t add. I’m basically stuck with a dumb careless error. Someone at eBay should be able to intervene. Any other business would allow a customer service rep to access a user account and correct an error like this. Frustrating!

I forgot about that. Sorry.
Why are you not using ebay's shipping? You get the same discount as with other shipping programs, the tracking is automatically uploaded to the transaction, and ebay sends that information to the buyer.

OP2 months agoNo printer. I like being divested of a printer frankly. Ink cartridges are ludicrously expensive. I’m becoming impatient with adding unnecessary peripherals on my laptop. This works for me very well. I make enough profit on each book to cover the difference between full rate USPS and the discounted postage rate if I printed the labels from eBay. I also deduct postage expense from my taxes. My method works very well for me in the end.

You can 'buy' a label on eBay that is just a QR code.
Take the QR code on your phone to the Post Office and they print the label.
However, Media Mail has no discount on eBay, so buying at the counter is ok.
Also if you diversify and want a label printer for Ground Advantage, etc, get a thermal label printer. No ink ever. $100 printer and labels every so often.
For Ground Advantage it pays for itself in 20-40 labels, very quickly.
