Suspicious sellers, unclear how to report
I recently tried purchasing an auto part from one seller, as a Buy It Now. The sale went through, but a few days later I got a message
OK, fine, sad panda. I said refund, and it appears the refund did go through.
I then tried to purchase the same part from a different seller (completely different name), it went through, and... a few days later I got the exact same apology message, word-for-word, from the second seller. I've requested a refund and am waiting for it to arrive.
This feels rather sus to me. I am skeptical about trying to purchase the part again, as I have no confidence that I won't get the same message. I don't know if this is a scam of some kind or not (since I did get the refund from the first seller), but it's still concerning. I wanted to report it to eBay to investigate, but of course their help system seemingly has no humans involved anywhere, only cheap bots and narrow help tutorials for things that are evident in the UI anyway.
What should I do here, other than look for the part somewhere other than eBay?

·3 years agoThe last two sellers you received feedback from are dropshipping from the same place.
If you bought the same part from both, both will have to cancel the order because the warehouse is out.

OP3 years agoAh, so they're both just fronting for the same no-name warehouse, and aren't coordinating on inventory. Why would they give me the exact same word for word email, then?

Either the sellers are the same, with multiple accounts, or one seller is simply copying the text from the other rather than creating their own wording, which can happen if that seller is not comfortable with the English language.

I would suggest that you vet your sellers, and avoid sellers located in China. The wording is verbatim what sellers located in China will send you.
Make sure you are reviewing the seller's feedback page for comments and look to see where the seller is located.
So sorry you did not receive the item you purchased.

OP3 years agoBoth sellers are over 98% positive feedback, from several thousand reviews. That seems as vetted as it's possible to be on here.
