Suspicious sales on ebay
In the past three months I have had more problems with items for sale not being what the actually are, or incomplete, than the previous 20+ years on ebay. I would suggest this is to obtain financial information from those making purchases. When I inquire as to when I can expect the rest of the order I am simply told I will receive an refund. On another occasion, which I came to this group about, no refund was possible. Another time the items were "lost", and again a refund was provided. However each time the seller had already received payment, and then refunded. Something is not smelling right here people. I would suggest you look into this matter. Thank you, John

OP10 months agoGreetings, As I appreciate the basic "be careful" suggestions, I would like to re-state that I have been on ebay for over twenty years. To those who are operating ebay I say; something is not right. While doing business with experienced, and highly rated sellers there have been consistent problems. Such as; 1) multiple sellers with high sales numbers and approval ratings using the same picture of the same "used" item. What are the chances being that the items are decades old? 2) Using the "contact sellers" portal through ebay, the response grammar seems "off", as if AI generated. 3) The disregard for an auction being incorrect. What happened to post a picture of what you are actually selling? 4) In the past three months I have; had an item lost after purchase, only to miss the 30 day limit on refunds and paid for something I never received. I attempted to purchase another used item from different sellers; all were incomplete or not in line with the auction description. Please look into this matter more intently than a quick "one dose fixes all" solution. After shopping on ebay for 23 years I can say; you do have a problem, you are just not aware of it yet. Please be vigilant in your exploring of this matter. Have a productive day, John

Mentor10 months ago@tiowedo. Sorry you had a run of bad sellers.
Rest assured sellers never see your payment information. Your payment information is encrypted and processed by eBay . The payment ia is then sent to the sellers checking account. The seller never knows HOW you paid.
As for refunds new sellers are subject to 30 day fund holds.
Refunds come from a sellers
back up payment method for selling costs ( credit card, checking account)
The seller has to float the refund then wait for the buyers payment to be released after the buyers refund clears.
My advice is to try to buy from sellers that have a good feedback score for selling similar items. Look at the feedback page not just the %.
Be sure to file not received refund requests within 30 days from the last estimated delivery date. And not as described return requests within 30 days of the date of delivery.
If a seller doesn't issue a refund or return shipping label then ask eBay to step in and help on the 4th business day in the request.
