Support potential scam?

Hey, I received this message from what says is support but when I click on it, it goes and takes me out of out of eBay and into a completely different page and then has the QR code. I’m supposed to scan and then ask for my card information and says I have to have at least $300 in my balance that sounds like a like textbook scam like you cannot tell me that’s actually actual eBay policy and if that is the case then why didn’t you tell me that upfront? I mean, this is absurd you guys please tell me this is a scam. Please tell me I cannot believe eBay would ever do this.

MentorAug 12, 2026 at 11:30 PM@gonnagogetthepa98 I'm so glad you came here first. YES that would be a scam. Ebay doesn't send emails like that. If this was a direct email to your email address, please FORWARD a copy of that email to spoof@ebay.com so that they can take a look at it. Forwarding the email is key so they can see the properties of the email too.
If you got the message in your Ebay messages, then that would be different. Please let us know.

OPAug 12, 2026 at 11:43 PMI received it in my messages on eBay, but it’s coming from another member that is based out of Belgium and it seemed extremely scam like like I’m just you know I’m pretty well-rounded in this scam fishing stuff like I worked at Carvana and that was something we dealt with constantly and we had to be able to spot it pretty easily so I don’t know I just I don’t know it did not rub me the right way at all

MentorAug 13, 2026 at 12:06 AMGo back into that message. On the upper right you will see three horizontal dots. Click on that and select to report this message. Once you do this, the message may disappear. So if you want to keep a copy of it. Take a pic of it or copy and paste it somewhere to save.
