Suggestions for getting in contact with someone with authority over the "Restricted Items" rules?
I have been fighting with the "customer service" clowns for six weeks now over listings for old men's magazines that do not violate the "restricted items" policy (they contain only nudity, no explicit sex, which according to the policy as written, means they are allowable). Several times after talking to said clowns, I have come away from the conversation thinking the matter was resolved, and every time it blows up again within a couple days. I have had dozens of listings ended/erased, wasted hours of my life on this, and now have a three-day account suspension, because your people who are actually implementing the policy either haven't read it, don't understand it, or are just plain ignoring it. What do I need to do to get in contact with somebody (Stateside Corporate) with some authority on this? I've been with you guys for 25 years, and have generated thousands of dollars in fee revenue - I should be able to get 15 minutes of somebody's time who actually has some authority to fix this mess. Thank you.

Mentor3 years agoFirst you get a warning. If you relist something that has been removed, you get a 3 day suspension. Do it again and you are suspended indefinitely (eBay speak for forever). Those are the rules, no access to your account required.

You’re not likely to find a CS rep who will be able to stop your items from being pulled.
Adult items were phased out after Adyen took over processing buyers’ payments from PayPal.
Your listings are being removed by a bot that cannot read policy. List your magazines somewhere else if you want to continue selling on eBay. You’re close to being permanently blocked from selling. I’m sorry … but you don’t have a winning had to play.

I’m a fellow member who’s been volunteering answering questions on these Boards for 15+ years.
I have no access to your account … but am very familiar with the sequence of events that occur when pulled items continue to be listed. If your account is restricted for 3 days … you’re close to the end.
This is a friendly warning … not a threat. I won’t be ending your selling account. eBay simply appears disinterested in helping sellers list adult items … so it seems pointless to continue contacting reps about your items. I’m sorry.

OP3 years agoI guess my point is that - even if it is a bot - somebody has to have control over said bot. They have a "corporate policy" that makes it clear what is and isn't acceptable. They clearly have no problem with Playboy and Penthouse, so adult items are not completely discontinued. You can't write a policy and then allow your bots to completely ignore it.

If you continue to list items for sale that have been removed in the past, Ebay will eventually suspend you.
You have many successful sales with other items, I would suggest a different venue for selling the adult magazines since it is not worth jeopardizing your Ebay account.

OP3 years agoSo what you're saying is the bots will suspend me, and there's no human who can or will do anything about it, despite the fact that I'm not actually breaking any rules (as they're written)? I'm not trying to be a jerk here; this just all seems straight out of Orwell...

Per Ebay: "Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including for example: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension."
Regardless of your point of view, for the sake of your Ebay account I would suggest that you refrain from selling the type of items that have been removed and continue to be a successful seller on Ebay.
It is Ebay's venue and Ebay rules. To be a member on Ebay, you must abide by their rules.

OP3 years agoI AM abiding by their rules (i.e. their own - written - policy as to what is and isn't acceptable). THEY (or their bots) are the ones who aren't. That's why this whole situation is completely absurd.
