Suggestion for items listed as "new"
I don't know where to send a message to Ebay, since the customer service chat is an entirely unhelpful bot. I'd like to suggest that the requirements for items to be listed as "new" have an addition. I just bought an item listed as new, with the description stating that it is brand-new, never-opened. But it reeks strongly of cigarette smoke! I'm allergic to cigarettes, and I had an allergic reaction as soon as I opened the box. I can't have this in the house at all. It's a doll made of fabric, not washable, and I know from experience that odors can't be washed out of this kind of doll. The seller doesn't accept returns. I just spent $20 to have a box of smoke blown into my face. I'd like to suggest that "does not smell like cigarette smoke" be added to the list of requirements for an item to be listed as new. Alternately, there should be some sort of box to check or something for every product listed, for the seller to state whether or not the item has cigarette odor.

Mentor1 year ago@anwphoto You can return it for a refund. I totally agree that it would be nice if all sellers stated if the home was smoke free AND not use fabric softeners or Febreze on items. I am a fellow asthmatic.
The eBay Money Back Guarantee over rules the sellers return policy. You have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a not as described return request.
Here's what you need to do:
Open a return with the reason doesn't match description or photos since the doll can not be used for the intended purpose.

Let me know if you need to return an item to another country as there are additional steps required. The seller pays return shipping for an item that is not as described no matter where they are located.

If you receive an item that does not match the description, file a "not as described" return and return the item at the seller's expense within thirty days. The process is automated; if the seller does not cooperate at any point, ask eBay to step in after three business days.

The seller's "no return" policy applies to remorse returns, not "not as described" returns.

OP1 year agoThanks. I tried that. It requires a photo of the defect, but I can't photograph an odor.
