Strange set of events with an order
Hi all, I haven't been selling in a while due to being too busy with work. I thought I cancelled my listings but apparently one was still running for 6+ months and just sold. No harm no foul, I packed it up and sent it to the buyer and this time made sure the listing was cancelled.
Today I got a message from another account claiming the order was undeliverable and being returned to sender. The message included warnings from ebay that it was from a different account than the one I sold it to and to watch for fraud. The name was similar and I tracked the order and confirmed the message was correct, it was being returned to sender.
I checked the order address and confirmed I shipped to the correct address on the order, but upon checking deeper, the town and the zip code was for California but the state was listed as Michigan. The buyer's phone number area code indicated Michigan as well. I took screenshots of his order address and the label and sent it to him via the account the order came on and asked what state he is in, but have not heard back yet. I am not even sure why USPS didn't flag the state/zip mismatch.
I guess either the buyer mixed up the address or it's a scam. I can't imagine someone scamming on a cheap item ($10) but the contact from a different account and the City/ZIP being California but the ZIP and phone being from Michigan are too many discrepancies so I am suspicious. I thought I'd post to ask if this is something others are seeing or if maybe it's just a glitch in the matrix? TIA!-Mike
