Strange going on with a shipment.
Summary: sumc_2059 experienced an issue where a buyer received a delivery notification from eBay despite an order being canceled and a refund issued. The item had been lost, and no shipment was made, but a tracking number indicated delivery from sumc_2059's address. They are both confused about the situation, suspecting it might be a scam, and have updated their information for security. They expressed frustration that eBay's AI hasn't been helpful in resolving the issue.
I had to cancel a order last month with a buyer after they checked out and I made the label because the item was lost and couldn't be found. They got their refund and everything was okay. But now almost a month later they get a message from eBay that their order was delivered. I never sent them that order because the item was lost and the labels were cut up. The tracking number for whatever was sent to that address which wasn't even their address came from my address for something I never sent. We are both lost about this, what could it be? I changed my info just in case it's a scam here. I wish eBay would let me know because their Al doesn't know.

I had a very similar thing happen to me. For the 1st time ever, in 15+ years, I could not find the item that was sold. Unfortunately, I had already printed the label. I let the Buyer know and he insisted that I not cancel and keep looking. I thought the label would time out on its own. I never used that label or shipped that item. A short time later, he emailed and said he got a notice that the item was delivered, with that tracking number. But he confirmed with his carrier that he did not receive it.
I know the post office recycles tracking numbers, but I thought it was after six months. The only thing I could think of, is I had never canceled the unused label.
I didn't contacted eBay because this was more of a USPS issue. It sounds like the same thing happened here.
