Stolen item purchased on ebay - Seller says he had no idea

Turns out an item I purchased was reported as stolen. As I tried to get item repaired with service department, company says they won't repair, even with payment. They will not assist since item with that serial # was reported as stolen. Seller promises me they had no idea and swears it's not stolen. Now I'm stuck with a non-functional item that I cannot get service on. Seller also contacted that company repair on my behalf, promising it was not stolen, but we are at an impasse.
Item cost over $2000 so it's not a trivial expense. I purchased in Nov of 2024, contact company for repair in April 2025. And this week company gave final "we cannot help you" answer. What are my next steps?

Unfortunately, you are long past eBay's 30 Day Money Back Guarantee at this point. You can seek assistance from your credit/debit card or PayPal, depending on how you paid, though they will also have timeframes for that assistance that may likely have passed as well. I would also recommend contacting your local police department to alert them of the situation and see what they can do.
