State Tax Records for 2020
I have had a situation that destroyed my EBay records prior to 2023. I need to print out orders or transaction records that would show state taxes collected by EBay on all orders for 2020 to 2023. I am running into roadblocks online because it appears EBay does not have such records available to download. I have tried every way I can think of to talk to a customer service human to get access to those records. Is there any living person left at EBay or is it all AI? What recourse do I have? Thank you.

Mentor5 months agoWhat state are you in? Most if not all states, and only if you have a resale certificate, require you to report only ebay gross payments, which is offset by the fact ebay collected and remitted the tax for you. You don't normally report the actual sales tax amounts since ebay takes care of all this, you would only do this for sales you made directly and collected tax for yourself.
Regardless, ebay sales reports does show this information, but only goes back three years. You can however order a special report, but I don't know that one will shows sales tax ebay collected on your behalf.

OP5 months agoThank you for your reply. I do need the report for 2020 which you know they only go back to January 2023. I live in Missouri and they did not pass a law until January 1, 2023 for internet state sales taxes to be collected. Missouri was dead last. Therefore, EBay most likely would not have collected any Missouri State sales tax prior to that date. It is a weird situation where I am required to show proof that basically does not exist. I can at least provide the report and let them do whatever they are going to do. The bottom line is that in any given year less than 2% of my orders were for residents in Missouri.
