State tax and shipping fee scam
But do you know that EBAY, in addition to requesting their commission on shipments (money that does not enter your pocket), also does so on the sales taxes that are paid to the government???? This is a SCAM, charging their commission on state TAXES!!!! I would say to open a class action against them for all the commissions they took (don't prove the taxes and shipping costs)

Mentor2 years agoThe fees are clearly defined. You agree to the fees when you list here.
It doesn't matter how they make the calculation - if you took the tax out, the % would go up - the fees would not go down.
So no, it is not worth legal action, which, by the way, you agreed to no class action in the user agreement. You can submit a claim for arbitration, if you want to spend the money on a lawyer.

OP2 years agoBut what you're saying!!! The commissions are 13% (for example), but you pay them on what you earned (proceeds from the sale) not on the proceeds + taxes!!!! The taxes are not yours but the state's, as are the shipping costs (it is also true that with the shipping costs the smart ones would put them exaggerated and then lower the cost of the item for sale, in fact eBay has since understood the game , he also charges shipping commission!!!!) But tax commission is illegal, taxes are not paid to you!!!!!

Mentor2 years agoIt is not illegal - as long as fees are applied without discrimination, eBay can charge or calculate the fees in any manner they choose.
Would you be happier paying 14% on the item + shipping and 0 on the tax? What difference would it make?
My point is that how they calculate the fee does not matter - your fee would not go down.
