Starter Store Subscription Question
Summary: thegentlekeep has a Starter Store subscription and is confused about the discrepancy between listed and promoted items and how to avoid listing fees. They have a limit of 250 listings per month but have reached 322 due to automatic renewals. mr_lincoln explains that the limit is total per month, including renewals, and suggests ending some listings to avoid fees. krazzykats clarifies about automatic renewals, noting they count against the monthly allotment. thegentlekeep confirms understanding and thanks the participants for their help.
My starter store subscription just renewed on 9/4/2026. Since that time I have listed around 54 items (9/21/2026) According to my selling dashboad I have 12 remaining promotions available out of 250 for each time period (month). I am unsure how this works as only 21 of my 54 items are officially promoted and I have 33 left that are not. I have a cap of like 4K listings total for my subscription level. I know once I hit zero I will be charged x number of cents per item I list and I am trying to prevent that as I have alot more things I want to list this month without being charged. 1. Why is there a big discrepancy with promoted items for the month verse how many I actually posted. 2. How can I prevent being charged a listing fee when technically I should have over 130 more to publish before I get charged. What am i not understanding and how can I prevent getting charged?

Mentor2 weeks agoWhat do you mean by "promotions"? Listings?
Listings automatically renew each month unless canceled before, which will count against the remaining listings of the current month.
A total of 54 listings will automatically renew each month. As it listing renews, it will deduct from the 250 monthly allotment.

As of this writing you have a TOTAL of 322 items listed for sale. That is already OVER your 250 per month max if they ALL renew this month. You will be charged Insertion fees for any over the 250 monthlyMAX allotment.
The store subscription works as a TOTAL per month NOT adding up to 250 each month. Any BIN (Buy it now) listings you careated last month automatically renew this month on the same day they were originally listed (exceptions are months with 31 days followed by a month with fewer days.
The Start date and Time left columns on your Active list in Seller Hub can help you manage which listings will need to be Ended before they relist and you are charged an Insertion fee. If the columns are not shown use the Customize table link in the upper right of the page and add them.

OP2 weeks agoSo to make sure I understand. I can only have a total of 250 listings in my store at any given time (new or renewal). So eventually if I list 250 items per month I will hit the max every month the start of the month and wont be able to publish more without an insertion fee attached. So that also means 72 of them have each had a listing fee insertion fee attached to them at some point of time. To get around this I can either. 1. Get a higher store subscription. 2. Dont post any more listings at all and end all listings that will be renewed this month. In order to prevent being charged a insertion fee. Am I understanding this correctly?

OP2 weeks agoIs there a way to stop automatic renewals or is it manual?
jacbarcollectibles
Mentor2 weeks agoBuy it now listings would have to manually be ended. Auction listings will automatically end after nine relists if not already won.

OP2 weeks agoThank you! I think i have a better understanding now.

Sorry for the delay ... yes you seem to grasp the concept. You are not the first nor the last to be a little confused on the monthly Insertion allotment on your account.
@jacbarcollectibles mentioned that you can End listings that could cause you to go over your monthly 250 allotment. When a listing is Ended it is moved to the Inactive - unsold file and will remain there for 90 days. So, for this month to avoid fees END listings so you are down to the 250 allotment and as items Sell you can Relist from the Inactive - unsold file.
