@roundtownantiques A greeting card is a good idea. Here is how I do mine. The card stock smooths out lumps when the letter passes through the slalom course of USPS super-high-speed letter sorting equipment. By making the card stock the full length of the envelope, the leading edge acts like a shoehorn. You'll want bumpy items kept away from the edges, particularly the leading edge (the stamp end). While it looks like I've taped those coins, I've actually taped clear holders. You can tape a square of paper over the coin to avoid adhesive mess.
