Someone else's name on my package
Anyone else order something with your name and address but it arrives with someone else's name you don't know? Seems really fishy, especially because I also received a package of something I did not order from Walmart this week with the same name but my address. I figure it must be one of those brushing scams but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Did you receive what you purchased from the Seller? If so they may have used Walmart to fulfill their order. They may have used their own name too. They may have also tried to order something else for either themselves or another Buyer somewhere and screwed up the Ship to address, thus you receiving the other item.
For now there is nothing for you to do if you received what you originally purchased. While Sellers are not supposed to use Walmart for order fulfillment some do.

OP8 months agoNo, the first package received was something from Walmart I did NOT order but it had my address with the name Joseph Edwards. I thought perhaps someone keyed in the wrong house number. It became suspect when I next received something I ordered from eBay but with Joseph Edwards name on it, again, with my address. Now it doesn't make sense that it's some shipping mistake. The eBay seller claims something must have gotten mixed up in their shipping dept. They did not buy the ship label from eBay, thus were able to change the name. There's a reason they did it and it's pretty suspect. I'm not being negatively affected but others might be if they're scammers.

If the odd item you received was a low value item then the Seller might be using the False tracking number scam on another Buyer who purchased something expensive. What they do is send something to a different address and just upload tracking to the Buyer's sold item. All eBay sees is that the item was delivered with delivery confirmation through the tracking number. The Buyer does not have their item and has to work to try and get their money back.

OP8 months agoAh ok, yes it was a single bath bomb likely worth $3. Thx for the explanation. The seller seems worried that I'm looking into it. They're emailing saying weird things American companies wouldn't say. When eBay looked into it, there were some fishy things that made it hard to figure out who they truly are...Hong Kong based but with a warehouse of goods in the US. Definitely something up with it.
