Sold listing as Domestic USA only. Buyer has Chinese registry but Wilmingon DE shipping address
Hello;
I posted a listing tonight for some used electronics, a vintage portable CD player, working, but with some functional issues; all fully described in the ad.
In less than 3 hours, it had sold at the Buy It Now price. The buyer has an Ebay id that is just a number, a decimal, and more numbers. (Yet in the Order Details, the buyer is shown as several Chinese characters.) They are registered in China apparently - so Ebay deducted an international fee from my transaction -- even though the buyer provided a Wilmington, DE shipping address. I'd specified in the ad, only domestic USA shipping, and had removed all the other countries.
When I google-maps the delivery address, it appears to be a run-down warehouse in Wilmington, with google maps listing it as a Chinese business. So I'm assuming this must be one of the reseller situations I've read about - where they'll ship the goods from Wilmington, to somewhere overseas for example, since I won't... I don't really care if someone wants to do that - but I do care if this is scammy at all...
Such as if I send the goods to Wilmington (Ebay shipping label) and then the buyer files a dispute of "not as described" - and I gather, they then "return the goods" to me (to satisfy Ebay conditions for a refund) - but what they mail back to me is NOT what I shipped to them... (Or so I've read is the playbook for a scam like this.)
My questions: A) should I be alarmed by the seeming weirdness of this sale? B) if I think it is fishy, do I have options to cancel the sale entirely without sending the goods, even though buyer has initiated payment? The buyer user ID has a lot of good reviews, in various languages, but once my "smells-fishy" alarm goes off, then I get suspicious of everything!
