Sold item returned marked as "refused"
Recently sold a ring, was paid, and I shipped item. Item tracking showed as delivered.
A couple weeks later, package returned to me in original unopened package. It had a USPS label indicating that the package was "refused".
I sent a message through Ebay asking the buyer if they had their address correct, or just wanted to cancel the order...trying to find out what happened. They did not respond.
A week later, I sent another message telling the buyer politely that if they did not respond within one week, I would consider the transaction as cancelled and refund their purchase price-less shipping since I had already paid to ship the item.
Is this the correct way to handle this, and what can I do to prevent this from showing up badly on my reviews...this matters to me.
I tried asking Ebay support, but all I get is their AI that doesn't understand what I am trying to do.

When a Buyer refuses a package or it is returned to sender because it could not be delivered or forwarded the Buyer loses their eBay Money Back Guarantee.
You only have to refund the item price but NOT the paid shipping from the Buyer (as you indicated you would). This is perfectly fine and will NOT impact your account.
I recently had an item returned because it could not be "Forwarded". I refunded the item price but kept the shipping and messaged the Buyer to let them know what happened. A few weeks later the same Buyer purchased the item again from a new address, they apparently had moved.

OP11 months agoThank you for your reply. How or would I have to inform Ebay about this?
